The Procter Community Society is inviting expressions of interest from qualified and energetic individuals to lease the newly renovated Procter Village Bakery & Café. The community of Procter is located approximately 22 km outside of Nelson on Kootenay Lake, and the Village Bakery serves as a valued community social and economic hub for local and seasonal residents, cyclists, boaters and other visitors. Prior to closing in 2018 for renovations, the bakery has been in operation since the mid-1990’s and is well known throughout the region – especially for its legendary cinnamon buns.
Located on the lower level of the historic Procter Schoolhouse, the space has been completely renovated, and comes fully equipped and furnished. We are looking for someone with energy and imagination to join the other tenants of the Schoolhouse in bringing our local gathering place back to life. If you are keen on building community, are committed to developing a year-round bakery/cafe with occasional special offerings (such as pizza nights and weekend brunch), this could be for you!
In this very unusual time, with established and new businesses adapting to the changing landscape created by the Covid 19 virus, the community society is committed to working collaboratively with our new operator to create a realistic plan for launching the business.
